2017 Rally New Zealand

The route for the 2017 Rally New Zealand has been finalised with an exciting mix of stages confirmed for the November event. Based from the host city of Tauranga the 2017 edition of Rally New Zealand is the final round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship with 14 special stages covering 280 kilometres over the weekend of 24-26 November.

The Strand in Tauranga city will host a pre-event rally show and ceremonial start on Friday evening, providing fans the opportunity to get up close with the cars and stars. With Kiwi WRC driver Hayden Paddon already confirmed for the event, a large crowd is expected to see the teams flagged away from the rally start.

The competitive action will start the following morning with teams heading over the Kaimai ranges to the west coast and eight stages covering 200 kilometres based from a central service park at Raglan. Stages including Te Akau, Te Hutewai and the iconic WRC Rally NZ signature test – the world renowned Whaanga Coast – 29 kilometres of winding gravel coast road, await drivers.

Leg two on Sunday is based from the ASB Baypark Stadium and takes in six special stages to the south of Tauranga including the 25 kilometre Manawahe test. A traditional favourite from Rally New Zealand events of the 1980’s and 1990’s the road winds through farmland and around Lake Rotoma with the favourite spectator vantage point at Helicopter corner. Rally New Zealand organisers have also combined with Motorsport Bay of Plenty to run a special stage in the TECT Park motorsport facility providing a number of great spectating opportunities for rally fans.

Rally New Zealand Event Chairman Peter Johnston says the new host location has provided the organising team with a number of options to create a memorable event for competitors and rally fans. “We’re really looking forward to bringing Rally New Zealand to Tauranga and have enjoyed fantastic support from the council and community who have been very welcoming. The Tauranga facilities including ASB Baypark Stadium are superb. Both organisers and teams are going to really enjoy working out of this location. Tauranga has also enabled Rally NZ to include a mix of our traditional stages in the Waikato and Raglan districts along with reintroducing some old favourites in the Bay of Plenty,” states Johnston

The victory celebrations and podium presentations will be held on the finish ramp back at Baypark on Sunday afternoon where another name will be added to the Rally New Zealand trophy alongside previous winners and World Rally Champions including five times winner Marcus Gronholm (Finland), four times winner Carlos Sainz (Spain), and three time winners Colin McRae (Scotland) and Sebastien Loeb (France).

With the event being the final round of the 2017 Rally New Zealand a high quality field of New Zealand’s best drivers is guaranteed including at least 10 different manufacturers. In addition organisers have received a number of enquiries from international teams with three Japanese and two Australian entrants already confirmed. “With the event being the grand finale of the NZRC for our top national crews, Hayden returning home at the end of the WRC season and some guest international entries, another classic Rally New Zealand is on the cards,” says Johnston. “Only a handful of Kiwi drivers have their name on the Rally NZ trophy, (2011 – Hayden Paddon, 1981 – Jim Donald, 1975 – Mike Marshall, 1970 – Paul Adams, 1969 – Grady Thompson) the 2017 edition is certain to be closely fought with the ultimate reward of joining this elite list of names on the trophy.”

The 2017 Rally New Zealand will be the 43rd running of the event which was last held in 2012 as a round of the FIA World Rally Championship. Rally New Zealand organisers continue their efforts to secure a return of the WRC to New Zealand at the earliest opportunity.

Bryan Adams – NZ Summer Tour 2018

POSTPONED! Bryan Adams – Live in Mt Maunganui

The Bryan Adams concert here at ASB Bay Park Stadium in Mt Maunganui has been postponed due to the bad weather that has hit much of the North Island.

Neptune Entertainment along with venue and production staff have been monitoring the weather and due to high winds, which have increased in the last few hours, the show will now take place on Sunday, January 7.

The line-up for Sunday will remain the same.

The Sound and Neptune Entertainment are proud to present the legendary Bryan Adams for a four-date New Zealand tour this summer.

Bryan Adams will bring his GET UP world tour to some of the country’s most iconic and picturesque summer venues early next year, with shows in Matakana, New Plymouth, Mount Maunganui and Hawkes Bay.

Adams was last in NZ in 2013 with his Bare Bones tour, but this will be the first time since 2003 that he will bring his full live band! Kiwi legends Dave Dobbyn and Jordan Luck Band will be supporting at all four venues, making this a tour not to be missed this summer.

The Grammy Award-nominated Bryan Adams has spent the last three decades making music history. He’s sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making him one of best-selling music artists of all time.

He rose to fame in 1983 with his CUTS LIKE A KNIFE album, which contained the hits ‘Straight From The Heart’, ‘Cuts Like A Knife’ and ‘This Time’. His smash LP RECKLESS followed in 1984, delivering three of his biggest hits – ‘Summer of ’69’, ‘Heaven’ and ‘Run To You’. In 1991 he topped charts around the world with the epic power ballad, ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It For You’.

His other hits include ‘Can’t Stop This Thing We Started’, ‘Kids Wanna Rock’, ‘Please Forgive Me’, ‘The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You’, ‘Lets Make A Night To Remember’, ‘Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?’, ‘When You’re Gone’ (with Melanie C), and ‘All For Love’ (with Rod Stewart and Sting).

“Bryan Adams performed a selection of the biggest hits from his 13-album catalogue with remarkable energy, repeatedly high tailing it from one end of the stage to the other during several guitar solos”
– The Telegraph

Two of New Zealand’s most-loved and recognisable fixtures, Dave Dobbyn and Jordan Luck Band (of the Exponents) will both play sets, opening for Adams at all four venues, completing a talent-packed line-up that’s guaranteed to be one of the must-see shows of early 2018.

Dobbyn started his career in Th’ Dudes and was one of the main creative forces in DD Smash, before going solo and releasing hit after hit, including ‘You Oughta Be In Love’, ‘Slice of Heaven’, ‘Loyal’ and ‘Welcome Home’.

Jordan Luck was the lead singer and songwriter for the Exponents for several decades, with countless hits to his name, including ‘Why Does Love Do This To Me’, ‘Who Loves Who The Most’, ‘Victoria’ and ‘Whatever Happened To Tracey’. The Jordan Luck Band will be playing all the classic the Exponents hits on this tour.

This is an all ages event. Children 2 and under are free. All others as advertised

Bay Dreams Pre Party 2018

After the success of our warm party on January 1st this year, we decided we’ll return with a line up that warrants us to move it outdoors for thousands more people!

Join us on January 1st and catch this incredible line up, live!

First line-up announcement…

DANNY BROWN (Exclusive NZ show)
NAO (Exclusive north island show)

Bay Dreams announces massive line-up for pre-party
Including an exclusive NZ set by Danny Brown, UK’s Queen of wonky funk NAO, The Black Seeds, and many more.

One of summer’s biggest events – Bay Dreams 2018 – will kick off in style with a pre-party that

Back for a third year running, Bay Dreams takes place at ASB Baypark in Mt Maunganui on January 2, with an epic line-up that includes headliners DJ Snake, Machine Gun Kelly and Pendulum. But even before the one-day extravaganza gets underway, a stellar line-up of acts from around the globe will open festivities on January 1.

Topping the list is US rapper and MC Danny Brown who has been at the forefront of the hip-hop experimentation movement since his 2011 breakthrough album XXX. He went on to release ATROCITY EXHIBITION – one of the freshest and boldest-sounding rap albums in recent memory; a sonic swirl inspired by the work of Talking Heads and Joy Division that sounded like nothing else from the past or present. His appearance at the Bay Dreams pre-party will be Brown’s only show in New Zealand.

Also on the pre-party bill is NAO. The Queen of her own self-described “wonky funk”, the British singer-songwriter has been riding high since releasing her debut album FOR ALL WE KNOW in 2016, which saw her nominated for ‘Best British Female Solo Artist’ at the Brit Awards.

Some of Aotearoa’s finest talent completes the first pre-party line-up, including The Black Seeds, who have just released their new record FABRIC; Dunedin’s very own Summer Thieves with their distinct blend of reggae, hip-hop, rock and funk; festival favourites State of Mind; and Mana Lion, who are guaranteed to impress with their mix of soul, funk, drum ‘n’ bass, gangsta rap, hardcore punk and everything in between.

For the first time, the pre-party will be held on Bay Dreams’ massive outdoor stage.

This is only the first installment of acts to be announced for the pre-party and with tickets to the festival proving more popular than ever before, punters are urged to get in quickly.

Tickets are available as an ‘add-on’ in your Ticket Fairy account and range in price from $69 to $89. Camping for the pre-party on January 1 is also available as an add-on and start at $40.
