That’s it! I’m OUT of Here!

That’s it! I’m OUT of Here! – a collaboration of strength and courage

Steffi August, author of That’s it! I’m OUT of Here! shares her story of bravery and courage in collaboration with 14 local women aimed at supporting and encouraging others to make a change.

In their own words, each woman shares her unique story of struggle and hardship before finding the courage to listen to their inner voice and taking the leap to a more enriching life.

August gives readers the opportunity to recognise themselves in these accounts, knowing that sharing her story and others’ could be the key in unlocking someone else’s prison.

“Allowing these women to tell the stories of their own successful transformation, will persuade more people to make the break,” says August.

“Making the decision to leave or change a situation can be scary, but the fact is now is the best time. It is an incredible feeling, an empowering moment when you finally decide: That’s it! I’m OUT of here!. Most importantly the courage of these incredible women acts as a reminder that you’re not on your own,” she says.

An energetic powerhouse Steffi August is a professional motivational speaker, author, and scholarship recipient who is driven to help people gain confidence by shifting them out of their comfort zone and into a new space of growth and fulfilment.

To celebrate these amazing women and inspire others to make a change in their life Steffi will be running a presentation tour based on the book at various locations around the North Island.

Tarnished Frocks and Divas – Zoetica

Zoetica translates roughly as ‘to live life animatedly’. The Tarnished Frocks and Divas Development team have unashamedly taken it from the word ‘zoetic’ which means vital and used it to name a show packed with vitality and performed by 40+ women absolutely full of life.

Without giving too much away and spoiling the excitement and surprise of the show we can say that the TFandD team have done it again. They have come up with an idea and developed a theme and storyline that is relevant, interesting and hilarious, and will be spectacular to witness.

In staging Zoetica Tarnished Frocks and Divas will employ all the technology available to enhance the show and take you beyond the stage.

Peta Mathias joins TFandD in 2017. She plays her part as a stylish executive with fingers in many pies – running her entrepreneurial empire on the technological superhighway. Will she cook? Wait and see.

Jackie Clarke is back. However, instead of strutting the stage in her full glory, in her role this year it may be a case of ‘spot the Jackie’ exhibiting her usual fun and exuberance.

The popular catwalk segments return and will intertwine edgy industrial, feminine lace and many more themes into the story-line…

Making Zoetica…

The Tarnished Frocks and Divas development team have been meeting regularly for months. They have created characters, given them a ‘mission’ and wrapped a story around them. Their script in progress has gone to professional Auckland screenwriter, Kathryn Burnett also a script consultant who has been in the TV/film industry for 20 years. She is ‘polished the diamond’ before handing it back to the producer ready for the production team to begin and work their creative magic.

As in past shows there will be lead parts, support acts, music, dance and theatre on the catwalk, plus an inspiringly interactive big screen extravaganza using technology to heighten the experience.

NBL 2017 Final Four

Tauranga has been given the hosting rights for the National Basketball League’s 2017 Final Four, which are the semi-finals and finals of the NZ NBL 2017.

The NBL 2017 Final Four will be played over the weekend of Friday 16 and Saturday 17 June. The semi-finals will take place on the Friday at 5pm and 7pm, with the Final scheduled for Saturday evening at 5pm. All games during the Final Four will be livestreamed via www.basketballtv.co.nz

NBL Chairman Iain Potter welcomed Tauranga as the venue. “One of the strengths of the NBL 2017 across the country is the incredible support teams receive and whilst Tauranga has put a bid in for a team in 2018 onwards, it is not the basis for the 2017 Finals destination” he explained. “Tauranga have been very fortunate to have held previously successful basketball events in the region with the Tall Blacks, Tall Ferns and NZ Breakers and are delighted to be able to showcase now the top four NBL teams. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic weekend an opportunity for the city.”

This year’s NBL is already into the second half of the competition and whilst some teams looked to have secured a Final Four spot with just five weeks to go, some close games now mean other teams are still vying for a final spot. Whoever finally makes it through, the Final Four promises to be a very exciting weekend.

Play-off games have traditionally sold out very quickly and this year’s games tickets are going to be sold as two-day passes, meaning they are even more attractive to families and supporters. Supporters from all teams are urged to secure their seats early.

Some corporate hosting is available, however there are only a few corporate tables left for the weekend.

Tickets will be available through ticketek from Monday 15 May. For any enquiries regarding corporate box hosting or for further information please contact:

Boney M the NZ greatest Hits Tour

Disco legends Boney M. return to NZ for Greatest Hits Tour

Boney M were a phenomenon in the 70s, and to this day, the their hits – ‘Daddy Cool’, ‘Ma Baker’, ‘Rivers of Babylon’, ‘Rasputin’- are still the life and soul of the party.

With 18 Platinum and 15 Gold LPs, more than 200 Gold and Platinum Singles to their name, the disco legends have sold a mind-blowing 150 million records worldwide and continue to play live, today announcing an eight-date tour of New Zealand.

Boney M’s remarkable journey began after German record producer Frank Farian recorded the single ‘Baby Do You Wanna Bump?’ In 1974 he created Boney M to support the song, bringing in four West Indian vocalists who had been working as session singers in Germany — Marcia Barrett, Liz Mitchell, Maizie Williams and Bobby Farrell.

Their first appearance in Germany was a performance of the song ‘Daddy Cool’ in the then important and famous TV-Show Musikladen in 1976, which led to around 100,000 singles per week flying off shelves and the astounding success of their album TAKE THE HEAT OFF ME.

In July 1976, ‘Daddy Cool’ became the first Number 1 for Boney M in Germany and in December 1976, it hit the Top 10 in the UK. That same year in Germany, the follow-up was a remake of Bobby Hebb’s ‘Sunny’, which hit Number 1 in December 1976, and Number 1 in the UK in March 1977.

In May 1977, ‘Ma Baker’ again scored top10 in the UK charts, followed by ‘Belfast’ in October.

By 1978, Boney M was at the height of its popularity with ‘Rivers of Babylon/”Brown Girl in the Ring’, which became the second-biggest selling single in UK chart history. ‘Rivers of Babylon’ also was Boney M’s only US Top 40 hit.

The hits continued to roll out throughout the remainder of the 70s – ‘Rasputin’, ‘Painter Man’ and ‘Hooray! Hooray! It’s a Holi-Holiday’ both becoming Top 10 hits, while ‘Mary’s Boy Child/Oh My Lord’ was a Christmas chart-topper, becoming the fifth biggest selling single in UK history.

They kept dance floors packed and a generation dancing. Don’t miss your chance to see one of the greatest disco acts ever – Boney M’s Greatest Hits Tour, coming soon to a town or city near you!

Saturday Night Fever 40th Anniversary Tour

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER THE GREATEST DISCO MUSICAL OF ALL TIME

The greatest dancefloor musical of all time, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, will tour Tauranga November 2017.

Today’s announcement coincides with the 40th anniversary of the release of the film starring John Travolta — spawning a decade of disco, fuelled by Bee Gees hits including Stayin Alive, Disco Inferno, More than a Woman, You Should Be Dancing and Jive Talkin.

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER is the iconic coming-of-age story of young Tony Manero who learns the value of life in 1970s Brooklyn. By day he is a humble paint store clerk but at night he turns into the polyester-clad king of the local discotheque. He uses the dance floor as an escape from the reality of his dead-end job, clashes with his unsupportive and squabbling parents, racial tensions in the local community, and his association with a gang of dead-beat friends.

This contemporary retelling of the classic story captures the energy, passion and life-changing moments that have thrilled movie audiences since 1977. Now, a new generation of talented actors, singers and dancers meets a new generation of theatre-goers to explore the soaring sounds and pulsating rhythms of this coming-of-age disco fantasy.

Combining some of the most groundbreaking choreography ever with the best-selling motion picture soundtrack of all time, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER will be staged in 24 arenas and theatres around New Zealand as the ultimate end of year party event.
