A new indoor sports pavilion with a difference will open in Tauranga next month.
The Bay Venues Indoor Sports Pavilion, located on ASB Arena’s doorstep, will open for action on May 7.
It will feature two, netted, indoor courts, and will boast a social club vibe. Included are a large social mingling area with table tennis and pool tables, a café, changing facilities and toilets.
Bay Venues programmes manager Simon Leach says it will be a family-friendly environment and a “dynamic place to play”. Its opening is timed to suit the new round of sports leagues.
Some of the current ASB Arena and QEYC sports leagues will move to the new pavilion, and others will be added. It will be the home to netball, football and dodgeball action on week nights, from 5pm to 9pm. Morning leagues will also run, and childcare will be provided from $2.50.
“We have a diverse range of teams in our leagues, which means we can cater to all abilities,” he says. There’s the opportunity to add other sports too, and it will be a perfect venue for corporate team building events, for example.
